Green Tara, revered in Tibetan Buddhism as the “Mother of All Buddhas,” is believed to have emerged from the compassionate tears of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), embodying swift compassion, protection, and enlightened activity.
Handcrafted in Nepal, this Sacred Statue showcases the refined artistry and traditional craftsmanship of Himalayan Buddhist sculpture. Measuring 68 cm (26.77 inches) in height with a 53 cm (20.87 inches) base and weighing 23.81 kg, it features a copper body enhanced with a triple layer of 24K gold gilding, deeply engraved carvings that produce a magnificent 3D-like effect, gold and acrylic painting, and hand-carved gemstones. The radiant gold surface highlights her graceful form, serene expression, lotus attributes, and intricate ornaments, while the deep engravings, painting, and gemstones add exceptional depth, color, and decorative richness, reflecting the skill and devotion of master Nepalese artisans.
Iconography of Green Tara
Green Tara, the embodiment of active compassion, represents swift protection, fearlessness, wisdom, and enlightened activity. She is depicted seated upon a moon disc and lotus throne in the graceful Lalitasana (posture of ease), with her left leg folded inward in meditation and her right leg extended downward, symbolizing her readiness to rise and assist beings suffering from fear and obstacles. Her right hand rests on her knee in the Varada Mudra, the gesture of generosity and compassionate giving, while her left hand is raised near her heart in the Vitarka Mudra, representing refuge, blessing, and fearlessness. She holds the stems of utpala lotuses, with blossoms blooming beside her shoulders, symbolizing purity, awakened wisdom, and spiritual blossoming. Adorned with jeweled ornaments, earrings, necklaces, and armlets, she reflects the radiant qualities of a Bodhisattva. Her flowing black hair is partially gathered into a crown, with soft locks falling over her shoulders, and above her crown is a small figure of Buddha Amitabha, representing her enlightened lineage. This sacred form inspires practitioners to cultivate compassion, courage, wisdom, and the ability to overcome obstacles on the path toward liberation.
