Gampopa Kagyu Master: Founder of the Dagpo Kagyu School

Gampopa, also known as "Dakpo Lhaje" or "Dagpo Rinpoche", was a Tibetan Buddhist master, physician, and the founder of the Dagpo monastic order. He was Milarepa's main disciple who unified the Kadam school's monastic-scholastic (sutra) legacy with the Kagyu lineage's esoteric tantric and mind-realization (Mahamudra) teachings. Gampopa wrote the fundamental text The Jewel Ornament of Liberation ("Norbu Tharpa"), a basic Lamrim-style literature widely used in Tibetan Buddhism.
