Wealth Deity Jambhala, Tibetan Statue Art
The Wealth deity Jambhala is a handcrafted sculpture by a Kathmandu artist. With an angry expression on his face, the Tibetan statue art depicts him reclining with his right leg drawn in and his left leg in the peripheral. His brows and mustaches are blue, and a Bodhisattva's crown and beautiful ornaments adorn his forehead and body. He sits in a king position with a gorgeously made halo behind him, with a big stomach. His most recognizable characteristic is his mongoose Nehulay, which he carries in his left hand. Dzambhala's defeat of the nagas is symbolized by Nehulay, who is continuously vomiting beautiful jewels. The medicinal citron fruits in his right hand and at the statue's base have therapeutic benefits such as fever relief.

Jambala was born many eons ago in the world known as Hoetzer Jyapa, which means "a hundred light rays." Famines, natural disasters, and wars were unheard of in this region of enormous abundance. In this most fortunate realm, the Buddha Nime Shel spread Mahayoga teachings. Jambala hoped that he would be reborn as a god of wealth throughout this wealthy life, with the noble goal of helping the poor and unfortunate.
