Sacred 11.2” Tilopa The Great Mahasiddha Statue | A Symbol of Enlightened Wisdom and Devotion
This Tilopa Statue symbolizes one of the greatest Tibetan Mahasiddha, representing spiritual liberation, knowledge, and mastery. This handcrafted sculpture measures 11.2" (Height) x 9.3" (Base) and weighs 3.45 kg. It is made of copper, gilded with 24K gold, and adorned with vibrant gold and acrylic paintings. The statue depicts Tilopa's deep teachings and his role as the founder of the Kagyu lineage, making it an important addition to altars, meditation places, or sacred collections.
Tilopa, a meditative figure, is depicted in a seated pose, representing his meditation mastery and his role as a teacher of profound meditative practices. His left hand holds a fish, a distinctive feature which is a portrayal that relates to a legendary narrative in which Tilopa received teachings from Vajradhara while sustaining himself on fish. It also represents his unorthodox journey to enlightenment and mastery over samsara, the cycle of birth and rebirth. The skull cup serves as a constant reminder of death and impermanence in the right hand.

Tilopa was born into the priestly caste, which some traditions claim to be a royal family, but he chose to become a monk after receiving instructions from a dakini (a female Buddha whose purpose is to inspire practitioners) to lead a nomadic life. She made it abundantly plain to Tilopa right that the people who had raised him were not his true parents but rather the rudimentary knowledge and the universal voidness. Tilopa adopted a monastic lifestyle over time, following the Dakini's advice, adopting the monastic vows, and developing into a learned scholar. Dakini guided Tilopa's spiritual path, and the distance between him and enlightenment was closed by the regular visits of his dakini instructor.
