Padmasambhava, also known as "The Lotus-born," "Precious Guru" (Guru Rinpoche), or "The Second Buddha," is widely credited with introducing Buddhism to Tibetan lands. According to legend, Padmasambhava was an enlightened being who could see through time and predict troubled times in the future. This lovely sculpture is hand-carved on a copper body and gilded in pure 24k gold by Nepalese artists. He is depicted sitting on a moon disc, wearing a Lotus hat, holding Vajra in his right hand and a skull cup in his left, with Trident resting on his left shoulder.

The teachings of Guru Rinpoche are said to have an oral lineage in Tibetan Buddhism.
