Dzambhala Gold Statue, Deity Of Wealth
Dzambhala, the Deity of Wealth, is seated with his right leg drawn in and his left leg in the periphery in this gold statue. The artist from Kathmandu hand-carved this statue showing slightly anger on his face with big glazed eyes. He is adorned with a Bodhisattva's crown and precious ornaments embedded with corals. His mongoose Nehulay, which he holds in his left hand, is his most distinguishing feature. Nehulay, constantly vomiting precious jewels, represents Dzambhala's conquest over the nagas (snakes). In his right hand is medicinal citron fruits, which have therapeutic effects such as fever reduction.
