This Buddha Shakyamuni sculpture was expertly hand-carved in the traditional Himalayan style by Vajrayana craftsmen from the Kathmandu Valley. The statue is full of intricately detailed carvings on the oxidized copper body, giving it a classic antique look. The Historical Buddha sits serenely atop a moon disc lotus seat, holding an alms bowl in his right hand while performing the 'Bhumisparsa Mudra,' representing one of the most important moments of Buddha's life, i.e. when the Buddha achieved enlightenment as he claimed the earth as his witness for it.
