Traditionally Hand Crafted Bodhisattva Red Tara
The Bodhisattva Red Tara was beautifully hand-crafted by our master artists of Kathmandu. The Kurukulla Dakini is also known as the Red Tara or the mother of mercy and compassion in Buddhist mythology. The figure is carved using a copper body, gilded with 24k genuine gold and finely painted with acrylic paint to highlight the intricate design patterns of the sculpture. The Dakini is shown with a wrathful glare as she dances with her right leg raised and left leg atop a human corpse. She prepares to shoot a magnificent gold-crafted arrow with a flower-detailed shaft, using two hands to draw a gold bow. Her other left hand is holding a lasso, and her right hand is holding a flower goad that has been beautifully silver gold crafted. Kurukulla is an aspect of Tara, and she is also known as Red Tara. Her Tibetan name is Rigjyedma, meaning “she who is the cause of knowledge.” She bestows these qualities upon her followers, enabling them to sway others to their wishes and fulfill their desires. Her powerful charms also will allow her to lead straying practitioners back to the path of Dharma compassionately.
